Earlier this year, a friend of mine sent me a message about making a baby blanket for her baby boy who is on the way! We had met at a Postpartum Doula training workshop, and kept in touch since then. When I found out she was pregnant again, I was so excited for her!
She told me her great grandmother crocheted 2 baby blankets for her before she passed away, so each of the kids would have a special blanket to be given when they had children.
Already having two children, her third little blessing wouldn’t have one of the blankets from her grandmother, so she thought of me. When I told her I could make a baby blanket, hat, and booties set for their newest family addition she said, “I’m so excited that Eli (we finally picked a name!!) will also have one that handmade, just for him.”
While no one can replace grandma’s special gifts, it’s such an honor to be able to continue the gift of crochet baby blankets for them!
